Let's Talk Sizes!

Where We Started...

Almost 12 years ago, we started with inserts. Just inserts! Back then, we were The 1407 Planners, and we offered all the standard Traveler's Notebook insert sizes (if I recall there were 11 sizes).

When we became Tula XII, we started making covers, too! We introduced B6, which you now know as our Medium, and A6, which we called Small.

Over time, we added XL. There wasn't some fancy formula behind that one. We just loved the proportions and wanted something almost as big as a sheet of paper when closed. Then came Large.

And just like that, we had quite the collection of sizes!

Then Came the Classics...

Eventually, Small covers went away, leaving Medium, Large, and XL as our three Classic sizes.

Large is just an inch taller than Medium, so the difference isn't huge, but everyone has their favorites!

Then we started hearing requests for a ring planner.

We loved the idea, but we also loved the simplicity of being able to change covers without moving every single page. So we designed a cover that could hold a removable ring insert.

And while we were at it, we wanted it to hold a journal, too!

Those first covers didn't even have elastics because they were designed specifically for rings or journals.

Suddenly, we had FOUR cover options!

And Then We Started Thinking...

We loved all our sizes. We loved the flexibility. We loved that everyone could create something different.

But we also realized that choosing a planner was becoming a little complicated.

Which size? Which cover? Which inserts? What's the difference?

And honestly, we were making things a little complicated for ourselves, too!

We kept coming back to the proportions of our journal. We loved that size and started wondering what would happen if we designed planner inserts to fit it.

What if you could have your journal AND your planner inserts together in one cover?

What if we could simplify our sizes without losing all the things that make Tula XII special?

Hello, Signature!

In the fall of 2026, we introduced Signature.

At 7" × 8.75", Signature brings our planner inserts and Signature Journal together in one cover.

You can have your monthly calendar, weekly planner, lists, notes, and journal all together. Or skip the planning entirely and fill it with whatever makes you happy!

The whole idea is to give you more ways to use your paper without needing a different cover for everything.

And for us, Signature also means we can put more of our energy into creating new designs, new inserts, and fun things for you to enjoy.

It's not about having fewer options inside your planner. It's about making the outside a little simpler.

So, Are the Classics Going Away?

Yes and no! And this is the part we really want our longtime customers to understand.

Large & XL Covers

We are no longer creating new cover designs in these sizes. Once our existing inventory is gone, that's it for those covers.

Medium Covers (B6)

For now, we don't have plans to release new Medium covers either. But I'm not quite ready to say never on this one. Things change, and we'll see what the future brings!

Classic Inserts

THESE ARE NOT GOING AWAY!

We know you have covers you love. Some of you have been using the same size for years, and we have absolutely no intention of making you start over.

In fact, we still offer A6 inserts, even though we haven't made a Small cover in years!

Our goal is to continue offering refills for our Classic sizes as long as our customers want and need them.

We aren't going to stop supporting the planners you've already invested in just because we're excited about something new.

Which Size Should You Choose?

If you're starting fresh, Signature is a wonderful place to begin. It's where we're focusing our new cover designs and insert development, and we love that you can combine planning and journaling in one place.

But if you already have a Medium, Large, or XL that you love? Keep using it!

There's no reason to switch just because we've introduced something new.

And if you've always preferred a smaller planner you can toss in your bag, a Classic size might still be exactly what works for you.

The best planner isn't necessarily the newest one. It's the one you'll actually use.

A Little Look Ahead...

If you've been with us since The 1407 Planners, you've seen us change quite a bit over the years!

We've tried things, learned things, added things, and occasionally realized we made something more complicated than it needed to be. Ha!

But one thing hasn't changed.

We've always believed that your planner should work for YOUR life. Not the other way around.

Signature is simply the next chapter of that idea.

We're excited to keep creating new covers, fresh insert designs, and all those little paper goodies we love so much.

And whether you're carrying a brand-new Signature or a Classic cover you've loved for years, you're still part of the Tula XII Paper Co story.
